Our hearing healthcare team includes audiologists and hearing instrument specialists. Both professionals are committed to your hearing care, but they have different focuses. This means you’ll get the care that best matches your needs.

Doctors of Audiology/Audiologists

Audiologists hold Masters or Doctoral degrees in the identification and treatment of hearing and balance disorders. They provide medical care for a wide range of hearing and balance challenges.

Hearing Instrument Specialists

Hearing instrument specialists are experts in hearing technology – including selecting, fitting, and optimizing hearing aids. They ensure hearing technology performs as expected.

Norman Mele

    Norman graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1993 with a Master of Science Degree (M.Sc.) in Communication Disorders – Audiology. 


    Norman joined Montcalm Audiology & Hearing Aid Services Ltd. in February 2004 and has been practicing Audiology for more than the past 25 years. 


    In October 2007 he earned his Doctor of Audiology Degree (Au.D.) having completed his Professional Doctorate Degree studies at A.T. Still University in Arizona.

Heidi Ludwig

    Heidi obtained a Doctorate of Audiology from Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree with honours in Speech and Language Sciences from Brock University with additional studies as a Communicative Disorders Assistant. 


    Heidi completed her fourth-year audiology externship with Hearing Evaluation Services of Buffalo where she gained a wealth of knowledge regarding selection and fitting of a variety of hearing aids. Heidi has worked in the past as an Infant Hearing Screener, a VNG technician, and a Cochlear Implant Technician and brings experience testing both adult and pediatric populations and vestibular assessment. 


    Before joining us,  Heidi worked as a clinical audiologist at Watertown Audiology in Watertown, NY, and has been with Sense of Hearing since 2020.

Laura Veres

M.SC, REG. CALSPO, AUDIOLOGIST

  • Bio

    Laura earned her B.Sc in biology from the University of Western Ontario and joined us in 2015 as a front office manager while completing her audiology application. She was inspired to continue into hearing healthcare after growing up with a brother with hearing loss.


    She earned her Masters of Science in Audiology from Dalhousie University and is a registered member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-language Pathologists of Ontario.


    She re-joined our team in 2019 and she currently works at our St. Catharines location performing audiological assessments and prescribing, fitting and verifying hearing instruments for adults and children. Laura is passionate about improving people’s quality of life through hearing healthcare. 

Jennifer Candundo

M.CL.SC. REG. CASLPO, AUDIOLOGIST

    Jennifer earned her Bachelor's degree in Hearing Sciences from Brock University and her Masters of Clinical Sciences (Audiology) at the University of Western Ontario. Jennifer has over 25 years of hearing aid experience as she is a hearing aid user herself. She also has three young children that also have hearing loss. She has worked in a variety of clinical and hospital settings. Jennifer joined us in 2014 following her maternity leave. She now works at the Burlington Sense of Hearing location part-time, providing audiological assessments, hearing aid tests and prescriptions, hearing aid fittings, hearing aid verification, and earwax removal. Jennifer has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of children.

Carolina Castaneda

M.SC., REG. CASLPO, AUD (C), AUDIOLOGIST

    Carolina earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Rosario and continued her education at the Iberoamericana University, earning a Master’s Degree in Audiology in Colombia. She has experience in both hospital and private settings since 1987 and has worked in a variety of clinical and university settings over those years. Carolina moved to Canada in August 2001 and is a clinically certified member of SAC (Speech-Language and Audiology Canada, national association) and a member of CASLPO (College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario) She joined us in May of 2010 and works full-time in our Oakville location where she provides comprehensive audiological assessments, hearing aids evaluation, fitting and verification, extended Wear Hearing Aid Fitting (Lyric) and earwax removal. Carolina cares deeply about helping each patient any way she can, she has always strived to offer her patients the best care possible.

Elka Gold

M.SC., REG. CASLPO, AUD (C),AUDIOLOGIST

    Elka Gold has over fifteen years of audiological experience working in hearing healthcare in a variety of clinical and hospital settings. She completed a Masters of Science in Audiology at Dalhousie University and is a registered member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. Elka works full-time at our Etobicoke location providing audiological assessments and prescribing, fitting and verifying hearing aids and assistive listening devices. She is committed to providing the highest level of care to all of her patients. She has been with Sense of Hearing since 2010.

Jessica Cekan

M.CL.SC., REG. CASPLO, AUDIOLOGIST

    Jessica earned her Master of Clinical Science (Audiology) from Western University’s School of Communication Sciences & Disorders. She has previously completed both an honours Bachelor of Science degree at Wilfrid Laurier University (majoring in Health Sciences) as well as the Hearing Instrument Specialist diploma program at Conestoga College. She received her first pair of hearing aids at age 18 and since then has been enthralled with the subject of hearing healthcare. Jessica’s goal is to help others open up a lifetime of improved communication as they navigate the initial audiological assessment and subsequent treatment stages while incorporating a hearing loss into their personal and family identity. Jessica joined the Sense of Hearing team in July 2019 at the Stoney Creek location.

Andrew Lauzon

M.Cl.Sc., Reg. CASLPO, AUDIOLOGIST

    Andrew Lauzon graduated from Western University with a Master of Clinical Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Audiology) in 2018. Prior to that, he majored in both Cognitive Psychology and Music at York University (BA hons., Summa Cum Laude), and has had his findings on auditory-tactile perception published in the peer-reviewed journal Experimental Brain Research.


    Also a professional musician, Andrew currently holds the position of chief producer/engineer at Hamilton’s famed Grant Avenue Studio, known for iconic recordings by the likes of U2, Gordon Lightfoot, and Tom Cochrane among many others. His original music for film and television can be heard internationally on productions such as SuperBowl (LI), Saturday Night Live, and The Daily Show.


    Andrew heads up the Musicians’ Initiative at Sense of Hearing, which provides focused care and consultation for the unique hearing needs of musicians.


Taryn Macdonald

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

    Taryn has been with us since 2011 after graduating from the Hearing Instrument Specialist Program at Conestoga College. She also is a graduate of the American Sign Language/English Interpreter Program at St. Clair College.

David Snelgrove

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

  • Bio

    David graduated from George Brown College with his Hearing Instrument Specialist certification in 2010 and joined Sense of Hearing Audiology & Hearing Healthcare in 2012. Recently, David received his certification in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, TRT, to assist clients who suffer from Tinnitus. He enjoys working at our Mississauga location helping customers find hearing solutions that meet their lifestyle needs and providing quality customer service and support.

Julie VanDuzen

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

    Julie joined our Sense of Hearing team in the fall of 2014 working at our Guelph location. She then worked full-time at our Waterdown location until Fall of 2022. Julie has now returned to our Guelph location full-time.

    She completed the Hearing Instrument Specialist at Conestoga College.

Amy McInnis

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

    Amy joined Sense of Hearing Burlington North location in March of 2019 after graduating from the Hearing Instrument Specialist program at George Brown College. She previously earned her honors Bachelor of Science degree at McMaster University, studying in the Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour department.  Now working as a Hearing Instrument Specialist at our Burlington and Toronto locations.

Lara Irving

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

    Lara has been a specialist for 12 years, earning her Hearing Instrument Practitioners Diploma through Grant Mac Ewan University and received her Board certification in 2004. She has been with Sense of Hearing since 2012

Marnie Donaldson

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

  • Bio

    Marnie has lived in Hamilton for 20 years. She has been a Hearing Instrument Specialist since 2007. She will bring a lot of clinical experience and local knowledge to this office. She has been with Sense of Hearing since 2016.

Kelly Gadreau

HEARING INSTRUMENT DISPENSER

  • Bio

    Kelly Gadreau joined the Sense of Hearing team in February 2014 and provides administrative and office management support for our Welland clinic location. Kelly brings with her 18+ years of experience in customer service and office management. Prior to joining Sense of Hearing Kelly spent 11 years working in the Developmental Services sector managing a group home and providing daily support to youth with mental and physical disabilities.

Bill Donaldson

    Bill graduated from Conestoga College in 2008 from the Hearing Instrument Specialist Program. Bill works between our Welland location since staring with our company in 2018.

Vivienne Saba-Gesa

    Vivienne started with Sense of Hearing in 2018. She has been a Hearing Instrument Specialist for 23 years. Caring for her clients like they are part of her family is a priority. She respects colleagues and Medical associates as they are a very important piece to our success in helping those who need our help. She keeps a very open mind and is willing to listen and learn so that she can understand and grow with her client and in our industry. Lastly she loves what she does. Its not work to me… its my life calling. Its what I do best…. I HELP PEOPLE TO HEAR BETTER because I know how important it is to be a part of life and the loved ones that share our lives with us

    John joined Sense of Hearing Mississauga Central location in Sept 2021 after graduating from the Hearing Instrument Specialist program at George Brown College. He is now working as the Office Manager/ Hearing Instrument Specialist providing office management and clinical support.



Sharandeep Kaur

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

    Sharan has attended the Hearing Instrument Specialist program at Conestoga College. Beside her HIS designation Sharan also has a BA Major in Psychology from Western University and BSC Major in Biology from Wilfrid Laurier University.


    She has been working as an HIS since 2019 and she joined the Sense of Hearing team in 2023 at our Waterdown clinic.

Yaidelys Mandina

HEARING INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST

    Yayi’s journey began in Cuba, where she earned her degree in English Language and Literature and spent a year teaching at the University. Upon moving to Canada, she specialized in Medical Office Administration and then brought her skills to a bustling Medical Centre, starting as a receptionist and later managing referrals for over 20 family doctors and 10 specialists.

    Since joining Sense of Hearing in 2016, she has made significant contributions, excelling in patient care and clinic operations. While working, Yayi pursued further education and recently graduated from the Hearing Instrument Specialist program at MacEwan University. She is now the Hearing Instrument Specialist at this new Brampton clinic. Her commitment to professional growth and client care continues to enhance the quality of our services.

Amber McDougald

    Amber joined our Sense of Hearing team in 2023 after graduating from the CDA program at St. Lawrence College.


    She is also a Queen’s University graduate where she got her Bachelor of Arts with a major in linguistics and a minor in French. Amber enjoys working with both adults and children to help them meet their hearing care needs.

Corinne Galesloot

    Corinne joined the Sense of Hearing team in April 2012 and provides administrative and office management support for various clinic locations.

Kimberley Holloway

OFFICE MANAGER

  • Bio

    Kimberley graduated from Humber College in 1987 with a Developmental Services Worker diploma. Kimberley worked with special needs individuals of all ages (primarily adults). Kimberley later worked in customer service for approximately 12 years before joining Audia Hearing Aid Centre in 2002. Audia Hearing Aid Centre (Oakville) was sold in November 2006 to Montcalm Audiology & Hearing Aid Services. (rebranded to Sense of Hearing in 2012) Kimberley has also completed a Small Business Management Certificate Program. Kimberley continues to provide administrative and office management support for our Oakville clinic location. Kimberley provides the Marketing Support, Marketing campaigns and Media presence for all 13 Sense of Hearing locations.

Anne James

    Anne joined the Sense of Hearing team in September 2012 and provides administrative and office management support for our Burlington clinic location.

Kelly Jay

    Kelly started with Sense of Hearing in 2009 at our Port Credit location. She provided Office Support working with our full time HIS. For the past few years Kelly has moved into our Accounting Department at our Head Office in Burlington.

Rosa Martin

OFFICE MANAGER

  • Bio

    Rosa had worked as a PSW, caring for paraplegic and quadriplegic patients for two years before going to back to school for her Medical Office Administration diploma. She Previously worked at a Urgent Care Centre with seven doctors and pediatricians. Rosa brings with her over 10 year of customer service experience, and is currently our Office Manager at our Etobicoke location. She has been with Sense of Hearing since 2018.

Maryann Lawson

    Maryann is no stranger to Sense of Hearing. She’s been with our office since October 2015 and after a short hiatus, has returned to our Burlington location. She has completed the Leadership Skills Certificate Program at University of Toronto. She has worked in the medical field for over 8 years and has brought her experience to us.

    Jacqueline has worked in a healthcare setting for the past 15 years and graduated with honours from Trios College for Medical Office Assistant. Jacqueline joined the Sense of Hearing team in August 2019 and brings excellent customer service and attention to detail for patients and staff. She enjoys working with the public and will always have a welcoming smile for everyone.

    Bonnie joined the Sense of Hearing team in June 2018 as the Office Manager in Guelph. She brings 28 years of experience in the financial industry working with domestic and international clients. She will gladly help you with any questions and concerns.

    Dmitry has worked in the medical devices field for over ten years with experience in optical, mobility as well as hearing. He lives nearby within the Long Branch Neighborhood. He started with Sense of Hearing in 2021 and works full time as the Office Manager for our Long Branch location.

    Liana joined the Sense Of Hearing team and May 2024 as the office manager in Hamilton. She brings with her experience and management from the property management world. She loves working with people and helping out where needed.
